Online Classroom Course


This course is open to teens who are taking the class for the first time. This course is required for anyone under 18 that will be taking the Behind the Wheel 7 day course. It is also required for anyone 16,17 OR 18 who failed the permit test 3 teams and had not yet passed this course. If they have passed it they may take the 8 HR course if they failed the permit test 3 times. You must be at least 15 years and 6 months old to take the online driver education course.
All individuals who elect to take the classroom component of the driver’s education course online must take the online course through a DMV licensed driver training school. Home-schooled students are exempt from this requirement, if they do not plan to take the 7 day in car course with a DMV licensed company.
In order to benefit from the course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable with using a computer.

* To register for the online classroom course, complete the ONLINE Classroom Course Registration Form and return to valleydrivered@gmail.com. The fee may be paid by cash, check or credit card.
  • The student email provided will be used to send the login information for the course. The user name and login password will be sent. Students may click on the link below or on the register page to go to the online login page.
    When the student has completed the course they will be required to take the final exam at the Valley Driving School office (117 S. Kent St. Winchester VA 22601) with one of the certified instructors. The student and instructor will set an agreed upon time for the test. Valley Driving School office hours are Monday thru Thursday 9AM-4PM. Testing appointments may be requested and agreed upon with a certified instructor.
  • Valley Driving School will provide the computer needed to complete the test. Upon completion of the course including the passing of the final exam the student will receive the Course Completion Certificate. If the student fails the final examination, the student will be allowed to review any section of the completed course to prepare to take the examination again. The school and student will set another agreed upon date for the next attempt.
The program consists of at least 30 hours of instructions and includes components about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive driving, distracted driving, pedestrian and bicycle safety, handicapped parking, fuel efficient driving practices, motorcycle awareness and organ and tissue donation awareness as required by law.

" National Driver Training"

On the day of testing, you must bring the following to the test site:

  • Photo identification (DMV issued identification card, school issued identification card, valid
    passport or military identification)
  • Proof of completion of the online driver education course
  • A completed "Parental Consent for Online Driver Education Examination" (DTS 62), if you
    are under age 18
  • Proof of completion of the additional 90-minute parent/teen course if you are under age 18 and
    live in Planning District 8 (counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William and cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park)
  • The online driver training school will provide a computer for testing.
